What is an affirmation?
Those pretty, soothing little words and phrases you say to yourself in an effort to make your dreams come true....
Over and over and over again, you tell yourself that you are the picture of health; that you have wealth beyond your wildest dreams and that your relationships with others couldn't be any better.
Then, why is that not the case?
Two possibilities come to mind:
#1 What you say and what you do are two different things. We observe your health for example.
What are you doing to cause a healthy state of being?
Are you eating right, getting enough sleep and exercise?
Oh, really?
Most people take better care of their cars then they do of their bodies. We take better care of our dogs and cats then we do of ourselves.
Why is that?
#2 What we think about we bring about!
Our affirmations are words and phrases that describe what we want our lives to be like... usually.
Then our secret thoughts - our true thoughts - show us why what we want is not possible. The "tail enders" as Gary Craig* would say.
They sound like this:
Affirmation: I am now living the life of my dreams in excellent health, in abundant wealth, with the people I love.
The Tail Ender: Who am I trying to kid? I can't even see my waistline any more, I worry every day about having enough money to put gas in the car, and how can I expect anyone in their right mind to love me. Geeze! I don't even love me?
It reminds me of the story of the gardener who decided he would affirm his way to a weedless garden by simply stating his affirmation over and over again.
He lovingly tilled the soil and planted his chozen seeds. Then, for weeks and weeks, he went out to his garden, closed his eyes, and proclaimed his affirmation; "There are no weeds in my garden! There are no weeds in my garden! There are no weeds in my garden!
He opened his eyes and, lo and behold, the weeds had taken over his garden!!!
How could this be!?!
He was thinking all the right thoughts? What happened?
Thoughts without specific action are examples of the movie "Ground Hog Day!"
Without specific action, we never know what will happen.
Thought = feeling = action = outcome.
What do you think about?
How do you feel about your thoughts?
What actions do you take?
What are the outcomes you are experiencing now?
WE would be interested in your thoughts.....
